FAQ's

What about paying tax and NI?

You are liable for employer's tax and NI on staff wages once a certain threshold has been reached. Companies such as Nanny Tax and Pay My Nanny will take care of this and other matters e.g. payslips end of year documents.

Do I need a formal contact with my nanny?

Yes. It is a legal requirement to give a member of staff a written contract - apart from the legal side it clarifies the role and what is / is not acceptable to you so misunderstandings should not occur. Examples of contract can easily be found on the internet.

Do I pay anything up front?

No. We only charge a fee based on the salary of the nanny once you have made a job offer.

Will I be able to take up references?

We strongly recommend that you do as previous employers, in our experience, are happy to cooperate.

What about holidays and holiday pay?

Any staff member is entitled to the statutory holidays laid down and to be paid their normal salary for this period.

Your nanny services do not match my requirements, are there any additional services?

If we cannot match your brief to our database we will recruit specifically for you – there is no extra charge only our usual fees.

As a nanny, do I need public liability insurance? 

Whilst it is not a legal requirement, we always recommend nannies take out public liability insurance in order to protect themselves should an accident happen. By signing up to PACEY's Nanny Membership, you will automatically receive public liability insurance as well as other benefits.
